Steve Albini rough mixes of the Untitled 1994 Slint EP originally released on grey matter vinyl for Record Store Day 2026. Recorded by Albini in 1989 and restored / remastered from the original tapes by Bob Weston in 2025, the RSD pressing sold out immediately. This limited pressing of the 12" on oxblood swirl vinyl is available exclusively from the Touch and Go Records store while supplies last.

Despite Steve Albini relentlessly advocating for Touch and Go Records to release Tweez in 1989, we declined. A few weeks later, Steve invited Slint to an impromptu recording session to make use of some studio time booked by another band who did not show up. At the end of the session, Steve did a quick mix for the band to take home. The next day, Steve dropped off a tape of those mixes to me at the Touch and Go office. These new Slint recordings blew my mind and I could not stop listening to them. Shortly thereafter, we agreed to release Slint's next album on Touch and Go – the soon to be recorded Spiderland.
